Council is being asked on April 29 to direct staff to amend the Traffic Calming Policy and implement low-cost traffic calming and safety improvements on 1st Street, including a pedestrian crosswalk with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon and park access enhancements, with 315 pieces of correspondence submitted. Of those, 185 were in support; the remainder raised cost concerns and reservations about the scale of interventions, alongside strong backing for pedestrian safety and school route improvements. If council approves the motion, staff will proceed with a policy amendment and begin installation of the targeted measures.
