Council adopted Road Closure Bylaw No. 2246, closing a portion of Aldwynd Road, Langford, to facilitate the Veterans Memorial Park expansion. The road closure consolidates the right-of-way with adjacent city-owned parcels — including the 1.35-acre former Goldstream Masonic Lodge site at 679 Goldstream Ave. and three adjoining lots, purchased in 2022 (CTV News, ctvnews.ca). The consolidation follows the February 2026 Parks and Trails Master Plan recommendation to expand the park (staff report, langford.ca). The city has also issued an NRFP for the Veterans Memorial Park Expansion (langford.ca), signalling that civil works and park-enhancement contracts will proceed once the road closure takes effect.
